Mrs. Byrum is now serving in her tenth year at OLLS. She has had a life-long love of music and began piano study at the age of 4 and has been involved in church and college choirs throughout her life. She was a Presidential Scholar and graduated Magna cum Laude from Campbell University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in K-12 Music Education with emphasis in piano and vocal performance. Byrum taught Pre-K music for two years and then taught for Wake County Public School system for three years where she served as a middle school concert chorus and theater teacher. During this time, several adjudicated choral performances and festivals received the “Excellent Rating”. She has also taught piano privately in the community since 2001 and has held professional choral and piano accompanist positions. Mrs. Byrum holds memberships with various Professional Music Affiliations including: North Carolina Music Teacher's Association (NCMTA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), North Carolina Music Educator's Association (NCMEA), and the Raleigh Piano Teacher's Association (RPTA).
